Psychological counseling is a professional process in which a licensed psychologist provides support, guidance and tools to cope with emotional, relational or life challenges. It is not psychotherapy (which treats diagnosed mental disorders), but a space for exploration and personal growth.
Counseling can be useful for anyone going through a difficult period, chronic stress, relationship problems, professional uncertainty or a desire for personal development. You don't need a serious problem to benefit — prevention and self-knowledge are equally valid reasons.
Confidentiality is the fundamental principle of psychological practice. Everything you discuss remains strictly between us. There are very limited exceptions provided by law (imminent risk to your life or others'), which you will be informed of from the first session.
It depends on your goals and needs. Some people feel helped after 4–6 sessions, others prefer a longer process. At the first session we establish a general plan together and periodically review progress.
Yes, I offer online counseling via secure video call, for people in Romania and for Romanians in the diaspora. Online sessions have the same quality and confidentiality as in-person ones.
A psychologist evaluates and counsels. A psychotherapist (often also a psychologist with additional training) offers therapy for deeper disorders. A psychiatrist is a doctor and can prescribe medication. If you need medication or specialised treatment, I will direct you accordingly.
